How It Works

With Serotonin Brain Food™, you are NOT ingesting the neurotransmitter directly.

Like all of our Brain Food™ supplements, Serotonin Brain Food™ contains the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that are involved in the metabolism of that respective neurotransmitter. You are not directly ingesting or manipulating that neurotransmitter. By providing your body the nutrients it needs to metabolize these neurotransmitters, it is able to achieve optimal levels naturally. This method of naturally finding optimal levels also removes the chance of habituation or down-regulation, so can safely take our Brain Foods to achieve and maintain optimal levels of Serotonin for long-term use.

Rhodiola Rosea

A study published in the journal Phytomedicine demonstrated rhodiola's ability to decrease stress, feelings of anxiety, and "the blues".

The researchers concluded, "These findings suggest that Rhodiola Rosea, may possess a more favorable risk to benefit ratio for individuals with mild to moderate [mood concerns]"

Not only did rhodiola produce positive results, but it did so without any undesirable or unwanted results. [10]

Rhodiola exhibits more of it's adaptogenic qualities by decreasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) - aka free radicals - meaning it has anti-oxidative properties. [11]

Rhodiola has also shown that it can support healthy glucose & lipid metabolism. [12]

L-Tryptophan

The amino acid l-tryptophan is critical in a number of metabolic functions, including it’s role as the main precursor to serotonin, making it essential for the synthesis of this neurotransmitter. [13]

One study found that tryptophan supplementation demonstrated an increase in serotonin levels and “that increased serotonin can decrease quarrelsomeness and increase agreeableness in everyday life. Social interactions that are more agreeable and less quarrelsome are associated with better mood.” [14]

Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3 or nicotinamide is a member of the B-vitamin family which is known to support healthy neurological function, mental wellbeing, energy metabolism, and circulation. [15]

Nicotinamide protects against weight gain in high-fat diets and protects mitochondrial function

In one study, Vitamin B3 supplementation led to increased levels of NAD+, “culminating in enhanced oxidative metabolism and protection against high fat diet-induced metabolic abnormalities. Consequently, our results indicate that the natural vitamin, NR, could be used as a nutritional supplement to ameliorate metabolic and age-related disorders characterized by defective mitochondrial function.” [16]

Vitamin B3, or nicotinamide has also been shown to support healthy circulation, carbohydrate metabolism, and nerve function. [17]

Nicotinamide Supports Healthy DNA Function and Cellular Division

A study published in the Journal of Nucleic Acids reported that nicotinamide supplementation supports normal, healthy DNA repair, division, and maintenance of genomic stability. [18]

Zinc Glycinate

Zinc is a mineral that plays a crucial role in numerous metabolic functions, including being a molecular signal for our immune cells. [19]

Zinc Glycinate has highest absorption rate of all zinc supplements

An independent test conducted at the Ohio State University’s School of Human Nutrition ranked the most common forms of zinc supplements from highest to lowest absorption rates:

The results: “zinc glycinate > zinc picolinate >zinc oxide > zinc gluconate”. [20]

Magnesium Glycinate

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body. It is involved in more 300 biological processes that include energy metabolism, neurological function, cellular and DNA replication, and normal, healthy brain function. [21]

Underestimated Concerns of Suboptimal Magnesium Levels

According to one study, nearly half of the US population is not getting enough magnesium, which could contribute to states that are more dire than many would guess. This is due to the sheer number of biological processes that depend on adequate amounts of this mineral. [22]

Magnesium Supplementation Improves Subjective and Objective Sleep Experiences

A sleep study testing the impact of magnesium supplementation on sleep concluded that magnesium “appears to improve subjective measures such as ISI score, sleep efficiency, sleep time and sleep onset latency, early morning awakening, and likewise, objective measures such as concentration of serum renin, melatonin, and serum cortisol, in elderly people.” [23]

Excellent Mood Enhancer

We purchased this product for my husband, as he experiences depression. He is only taking holistic and alternative supplements/vitamins, but found he needed an additional aid, to enhance his overall mood. This product began working immediately, from day one. We noticed his depressive thoughts/moods diminished more and more each day, when consistently taking this product. Whenever he had any lapse in taking it, his moods declined. It truly makes a positive difference in elevating his moods, and having him feel far more positive and balanced, emotionally.

I call these my "happy pills"

Actually, they don't make you happy but they do make it harder to get unhappy.

I've been going through a lot of major garbage recently and went into a very deep, dark depression. Almost went back on Zoloft, which honestly still would have been a cheaper fix than this product, however this product is probably much safer and all natural, and it doesn't require expensive trips to the doctors office. So I guess this product is cheaper in that regard.

So I was on this for about a week by the time someone yelled and griped at me and threatened to sue everyone in my group. Normally, I would have been rattled by this lady and gone into an even deeper depression. But, instead I was like "Oh yeah? Really? I see. Okay" while remaining calm. Afterwards, I went home and worked on my vegetable garden. So yes, this product does work.

I normally take two pills in the morning. However, when I foresee a stressful situation coming later that day, I'll take another pill or two shortly before then. Sometimes I take with CBD oil and/or St. John's Wort, but not often.

Awesome

Started taking these seratonin supplements a month ago. I've noticed a drastic change in my overall temperament. I feel more optimistic throughout the day, and don't seem to dwell on the little things as much as I used to.
